Therapeutic counselling service for adults and young people (age 11+).

When life feels overwhelming, confusing or painful, having the right support can make a real difference. Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, but you don’t have to face things on your own.

I offer a safe, supportive space for adults and young people (aged 11+) to talk openly, make sense of what they’re going through, and find a way forward at their own pace.

I have extensive experience supporting clients with grief, bereavement and loss, alcohol and drug addiction, ADHD, ASD, trauma and a wide range of mental health difficulties. In addition to my private practice, I work as a youth counsellor within NHS CAMHS, bringing a breadth of clinical experience to my work. I am a BUPA recognised therapist and I accept BUPA clients.

I am based in Farnborough, Hampshire, offering face-to-face therapy, and provide telephone and online video counselling to clients anywhere in the UK.

Please note: I offer individual counselling only and do not provide couples or family therapy.

Welcome

Hello I’m Sharon Rowan, thank you for visiting my website. I am a naturally caring and supportive person who has a love of helping and connecting with others. I understand how it can be quite daunting when you are looking for the right counsellor to connect and work with. Let me tell you a bit of information about myself and how I work.

I offer a general counselling service for young people (age 11+) and adults. Counselling is about helping you make sense of your thoughts and feelings. I will provide you with a non-judgmental space where I hope you will feel comfortable to talk about what is on your mind; we can explore together your thoughts, feelings or anything you are struggling with in your life.

I offer face-to-face counselling in a room together, online video, telephone or outdoor therapy where we can walk side by side and/or sit on a bench.

I am trained to integrate different counselling theoretical approaches within my work, some of these are person-centred, psychodynamic and existential. This means that dependent on your personal needs and requirements, I can be flexible and adapt around methods that can work for you. I sometimes bring Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and creative ways of working into my therapeutic practice.

Types of therapy

Face to face therapy

Face-to-face counselling takes place between a counsellor and client in a private and confidential setting, being in the same room physically creates a human connection and can feel like a more personal form of therapy.

Video counselling

Online video counselling is an alternative and convenient way of accessing therapy without having to travel to your appointment. This enables you to have your therapy session via video in real-time over the Internet.

Telephone counselling

Telephone counselling takes place by speaking with your counsellor over the telephone rather than face-to-face.

You will need to be in a private and confidential space where you will not be disturbed.

Outdoor therapy

Sometimes called walking and talking therapy, wild therapy or nature therapy.

Outdoor therapy takes counselling out of the therapy room and into the great outdoors.
